Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
