Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to block the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" associated with the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a official listing citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the killings, public individuals offered varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were broadly criticized by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the comments as "shocking" and implied they demonstrated a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser should have intervened when the choice to comment on the passing was made.
