The 22-year-old tennis player Emma Raducanu concludes her season and has decided to continue with her coach for 2026.
Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.
Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in her remaining competitions of the year because of a medical condition that has affected her in recent days.
Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.
These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.
The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.
Her movement was far from freely in the deciding set against Zhu due to back discomfort that has affected her at times this year.
Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after a long gap in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.
Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.
She secured 28 matches during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.
Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.
She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.
The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled late this year.
She mentioned that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.
The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.
Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
