The First Game Pass Games of 2026 Demonstrate Xbox Is Still Fighting.

Everywhere you go, commentators persist in tolling the funeral bells for the Xbox brand. Microsoft's console just got outsold by a platform few have heard of. Dedicated Xbox communities have started writing regarding Sony's platform for the first time. Last year proved to be a period of total upheaval for the tech giant's gaming arm. But if we're going solely off the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it's evident that Microsoft continues to plan to draw people in with quality releases on its premier subscription.

The Immediate Additions

The duo of games you can play right now as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, are not the headliners. The true anticipation is for the upcoming titles to Game Pass soon that's worth getting excited about.

Significant Forthcoming Releases

Starting January 13th, Game Pass will add the often-overlooked Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game that breaks up conventional open-world tropes with an intergalactic heist adventure. An additional significant inclusion is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, hailed in past assessments as "a superb mixture of horror and action."

Intriguing Niche Additions

But even the smaller games arriving shortly on the service are noteworthy here. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, the criminally overlooked roguelike that is incredibly fun, drops on Jan. 7th — and you should try it whether or not you experienced the first Lost in Random game.

This UK-developed survival title from last year might get its hooks in you in about 15 minutes flat.

Atomfall, the stealth survival game by Rebellion Developments, is another one to watch. Those with the top-tier subscription also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to anticipate.

A Solid, Curated Lineup

In summary, these aren't the most groundbreaking additions to Game Pass, nor are they first-party juggernauts that validate the subscription by themselves. Yet, this selection are exceptionally strong. It offers a healthy blend of past releases that passed you by and new-ish games that failed to receive the spotlight they warranted upon launch — transforming them into perfect candidates to get a second chance on Game Pass.

You might need to brace yourself to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
