The Renowned Musician Encourages Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It has a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The single showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the initiative have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The song is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from later in the month.
