Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world had expressed condolences for the fighter in the following the terrible crash.
